Similar to the sci-fi thriller movie “Armageddon” with Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck, there is now a real Armageddon-style space mission to crash into an asteroid.
Where a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, is planning to leave the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California no earlier than 10 p.m. local time on Nov. 23, for the Double Asteroid Redirection Test, or DART space mission.
The DART mission will depart earth into space in hopes of determining “if intentionally crashing a spacecraft into an asteroid is an effective way to change its course.”
As the DART spacecraft will attempt to crash into an asteroid and see if this will affect the space object’s orbit.
If the launch this November goes according to plan, the DART spacecraft will embark on a nearly yearlong journey to the asteroid at roughly 15,000 miles per hour, and is expected to approach around Sept. 26-Oct. 1, 2022.
The target asteroid is named Dimorphos, which orbits a larger asteroid named Didymos. Didymos is around half a mile long, while Dimorphos is 520 feet long.
Didymos’ orbit around the sun comes relatively close to our planet, making it a Near-Earth object.
The lead coordinator for DART, said they plan to give Dimorphos a nudge and then observe if this affects its orbit around Didymos.
A camera will be deployed by the spacecraft before impact to provide visuals of the mission, and scientists will be able to see the effects of it through telescopes.
They said if successful, this could indicate that if an asteroid were headed toward Earth, the technology could be used to make a difference for the planet. By changing the asteroid’s future position to where the asteroid and Earth are not on a collision course.
The space mission team said the reason to do this now is in case a space object that has never been detected suddenly approaches Earth.
And the Revelation prophecies foretell that an asteroid looking like a great mountain burning with fire hits the earth in the sea causing a deep impact with the shock wave and resulting tsunami causing death and destruction.
The Biblical prophecies (Luke 21, Revelation 6, Revelation 8) foretell that in the Last Days there will be signs in the heavens that will ultimately result in a Biblical cataclysm on earth.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
