A “red alert” dire warning has been issued due to the statewide impact of the winter storm on agriculture and the food supply chain.
The unprecedented storm that swept the southern U.S. states last week led to extreme cold and icy conditions that most southerners have never seen in their lifetime and that caused a loss of power and water for days.
Now the Texas Agriculture Commissioner has said “We’re looking at a food supply chain problem like we’ve never seen before, even with COVID-19.”
He said dairy farmers have been throwing away $8 million worth of milk every day because they can’t get it to dairies.
Saying that: “I’m getting calls from farmers and ranchers across the state reporting that the interruptions in electricity and natural gas are having a devastating effect on their operations.”
And the cold weather also hit the supply chain with fruit and vegetable crops in the Rio Grande Valley freezing in what The Produce News described as a “Valentine’s Day produce massacre.”
Now Texans are facing food shortages after stores had to throw out refrigerated items due to days of power outages and some began panic shopping.
The Commissioner called on the Governor to designate agriculture producers and processors as critical infrastructure that must be provided gas and electricity to continue operations.
Saying that hospital workers and first responders as they deal with the natural disaster won’t have food to eat if the farmers are left without power.
The Biblical prophecies foretell that there will be extreme weather in the Last Days (Luke 21, Revelation 8, Revelation 11, Revelation 16) as the earth’s weather will continue to intensify—signaling we are nearing the end of this age.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
