There are reports that U.S. nuclear missiles at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey may be in the process of being moved to a base in Romania.
That the US had started secretly transferring the nuclear weapons due to worsening relations between Washington and Ankara, since they no longer trusted them to host them since the coup there.
In the aftermath of the coup, the U.S. Incirlik airbase in Turkey had its power cut off, all air traffic grounded, and nothing allowed in. Turkey held U.S. military personnel, aircraft, and weapons hostage for several days.
Turkey is also increasingly blaming the West for the coup, while at the same time drawing closer to Russia.
The reports also say the nukes are going to a base in Romania which is the home of the U.S. missile shield which has infuriated Russia. It’s said that American and Turkish representatives have refused to comment but will in the future.
It’s also said that NATO sent media a diplomatically worded comment which implies that allies must make sure that US nuclear weapons deployed in Europe remain “safe”.
This all could further inflame tensions with Russia since Romania borders Ukraine where its reported Russia is again massing troops for another attack.
