The USA has been stealthily invaded and its society destabilized by a nation state who unleashed a modern weapon of world war without firing a shot.
U.S. intelligence officials have discovered with “a high level of confidence” how that Russian hackers infiltrated the computer systems of the Democratic and Republican parties during the U.S. election. They stole and distributed information in order to disrupt the U.S. election and discredit America
.
Now it’s reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin became personally involved in the covert Russian campaign to interfere in the U.S. presidential election wanting to discredit American democracy and make us weaker in terms of leading the democratic order.
U.S. senior officials with direct access to the information say new intelligence from diplomatic sources and spies working for U.S. allies shows that Putin personally directed how hacked material was leaked and otherwise used.
The hacking and information releases impacted the U.S. election and roiled American society but is believed to not have affected the accuracy of election vote counting.
“There shouldn’t be any doubt in anybody’s mind,” Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency and commander of United States Cyber Command, said at a post-election conference. “This was not something that was done casually, this was not something that was done by chance, this was not a target that was selected purely arbitrarily,” he said. “This was a conscious effort by a nation-state to attempt to achieve a specific effect.”
The nation’s intelligence agencies say the cyber-espionage and information-warfare campaign is done by hacker groups named as “the Dukes” and “Fancy Bears” who are cyber-espionage teams linked to the Russian government. They have not only pierced USA political party systems but also email systems of the White House, the State Department and even the Joint Chiefs of Staff, one of the government’s best-protected networks.
Russia unleashed a high-impact weapon on the United States with devastating effectiveness with this cyber-power proving as a perfect weapon: cheap, hard to see coming, and hard to trace.
This Russian attack is increasingly understood across the political spectrum as an ominous historic landmark. Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Schumer and Jack Reed said “This cannot become a partisan issue, the stakes are too high for our country.”
