Doug Mesner, who goes by the professional name of Lucien Greaves and is the Satanic Temple’s co-founder, says an after school Satan Club could be coming to your kid’s elementary school. The Satanic Temple is bringing its fight over constitutional separation of church and state to the nation’s schools with its plan for curriculum in their proposed after-school clubs.
The group at first intends to roll out the clubs in a number of schools in districts that also host an evangelical Christian after-school program known as the Good News Club. They are plotting to bring their own wisdom to the nation’s public elementary school children, and they appear determined to give young students a choice: Jesus or Satan.
The leaders of the Satanic Temple recently gathered in the crimson-walled living room of a Victorian manse in Salem, Mass., the city renowned for its witch trials in the 17th century, to watch a promotional video developed for the after school program.
