Severe 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake In Puerto Rico With Blackout, Damage, & Injuries

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Puerto Rico triggering a widespread blackout, damaging infrastructure, and injuring people as they fled their collapsing homes.

The severe earthquake was followed by intense aftershocks, including a 6.0-magnitude shock wave that also was felt across the U.S. territory.

As the sun rose on Puerto Rico, reports of significant damage and injuries were beginning to emerge from areas already impacted by a previous 5.8-magnitude quake the day before that also destroyed homes and a natural rock formation that was a signature coastal tourist attraction.

The Governor told government employees to stay home as more aftershocks are expected throughout the day. Emergency personnel are evaluating the damage and inspecting Puerto Rico’s power generation plants — all of which are located along the southern coast near the origin of the seismic activity.

One man was killed at the city of Ponce when a wall in his home fell on top of him. Emergency personnel were trying to rescue one other person in that home who is pinned under debris. It was reported that many local buildings in the southern city were damaged.

Puerto Rico electrical authorities reported damage to infrastructure along the southern coast and said they were evaluating substations across the island.

A power utility spokesperson said the Costa Sur generating plant was damaged in the quake and crews are working to restore power as long as it is safe to do so amid continuing aftershocks.

Images of collapsed schools and homes from the earthquake permeated the airwaves and social media in Puerto Rico. And residents that are able to travel outside their communities are heading straight for gas stations and grocery stores to stock up on supplies.

Residents fear that the power grid, still fragile after Hurricane Maria’s devastation in 2017, could remain interrupted or fail again.

Local authorities do not expect the bankrupt central government to be much help for residents who are still traumatized by Hurricane Maria and its aftermath.

The Biblical Prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21) foretell that in the Last Days there will be earthquakes as signs we are nearing the end of this age.

These events and conditions happening now are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all the things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy, that comes upon the world of disobedience. As the born again Church is not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10) but instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
