A solar storm headed to earth after a huge hole opened up on the surface of the sun. The hole, known as a coronal hole, emerged on our sun unleashing a barrage of cosmic particles towards Earth.

Researchers warned cosmic particles were spewing out of the hole and hit Earth at an astonishing 500 kilometers per second. The SpaceWeather.com website reports that Earth is inside the fast-moving stream of solar wind flowing from the wide hole in the sun’s atmosphere.

And that our planet is expected to remain inside the stream for another 24 hours, at least, with a 40% chance of additional geomagnetic storms coming. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has also provided alerts on this solar storm.

But fortunately this time, they expect the impacts to be limited to minor impacts on satellite operations and weak power grid fluctuations, but also potentially strong auroras visible in more latitudes.

For the consequences of these geomagnetic solar storms can be far more serious and catastrophic for humanity. It’s reported the solar storm of 1859 was so powerful that it induced one of the largest geomagnetic storms to hit earth on record.

Back then it hit telegraph wires, the high-tech stuff of the time, suddenly shorting out in the United States and Europe, and igniting widespread fires. And strange colorful auroras, normally visible only in polar regions, were seen as far south as Cuba and Hawaii.

And researchers say that if a solar storm of this magnitude was to occur today on our modern society, it would cause the unthinkable.

It could cause chaos that could result with widespread electrical disruptions, blackouts and damage due to extended outages and damage of the electrical grid with electrical transformers and power stations blown out.

Also, earth’s communications could be crippled with satellites damaged or destroyed leading to a lack of GPS navigation, mobile phone and TV signals that could take years to recover from and cost trillions of dollars.

It’s said that the solar storm of 2012 was of similar magnitude, but humanity dodged that bullet when the storm narrowly passed Earth’s orbit without striking the planet, missing by only nine days.

We know now that solar storm cosmic winds can overcome the Earth’s atmosphere, causing it to heat and expand, and the higher amounts of radiation can impact people causing skin cancers and other health issues.

And the Biblical prophecies (Revelation 16) foretell that in the future the sun’s emissions will overcome the earth until the heat is apocalyptic, and impacts humanity with terrible results until their skin is seared and discolored.

These solar storms with their cosmic winds from the sun can be a sign of the Last Days reminding us of the coming fulfillment of prophecy, providing the opportunity now for whoever will to repent and be born again into the kingdom of God as Jesus (John 3) and His Apostles (Acts 2) commanded.

For in the Day of Judgment (Revelation 16) it seems there will be no repentance, as amazingly in that time those suffering the plagues of wrath will blaspheme the name of God who has power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give Him glory.
