It was a dramatic night in the US Congress.

As is custom, the US President had given the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, a copy of his remarks before he began the speech.

But as soon as he was finished, in an unprecedented move, Speaker of the House Pelosi, stood up behind the President and ripped the State of the Union speech in half.

Could this possibly be a moment that will become infamous portending a divided America’s future?

It’s happened before.

With the prophetic speech of a famous US President, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln made the famous speech in 1858 at the Illinois Republican State Convention.

It’s called the House Divided speech.

In the speech, Lincoln quoted from the Holy Bible the Scripture saying “a house divided against itself cannot stand.” As he described how America was becoming more divided at that time and his belief that the division would not stop until it was brought to a head in a crisis.

From the moment of that campaign speech, Lincoln emerged as a prominent political figure in America.

And the national prominence Lincoln gained from that earned him the Republican presidential nomination and then the US Presidency in 1860.

But unfortunately after his victory, his House Divided speech became strangely prophetic. As the severe division in the country did result in a crisis in 1861 when states seceded from the union and the country went into civil war.

Trump and Lincoln are very different, and all the circumstances of their two speeches are not the same. But the severe division in the country then and now is very real, and both of the speeches had a moment which reflected that.

The Speaker of the House is by law second in line to succeed the President, after the Vice President, and the 25th Amendment also makes the Speaker a part of the process announcing the President is unfit for office.

Obviously a position of influence and power. So powerful that they can bring impeachment proceedings against a US President.

And for the person in this position before the entire country on national television to make a demonstration of ripping apart the State of the Union speech of the President, who could not see the prophetic symbolism in that?

The Republic is in growing danger, for the Biblical Prophecy Lincoln quoted still says “if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”

And both the public and experts say they see a crisis coming for America.

A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 59% of all voters are concerned that those opposed to President Trump will resort to violence.

A Newsweek poll, said back in 2018 that a third of all Americans think civil conflict could break out within the next five years. A Georgetown University poll found a majority of Americans, 7 out of 10, believe we are two-thirds of the way to being on the edge of conflict.

And a history professor who is an expert in 19th century America warned that today’s America looks eerily similar to the period before the civil war of 1861.

Perhaps there are those thinking now that since the current impeachment trial of the President in the US Senate has ended with him acquitted that we have dodged the bullet.

But no, after the State of the Union speech was ripped apart on national television that would be a false assumption.

Unfortunately, the positions are more entrenched, the resentments are deeper, and the divisions wider, and there is no indication that any side will stand down and back off.

And as the country heads into another presidential election that will probably be filled with vengeance, the ripping in half of the speech for the State of the Union could become an infamous moment portending a divided America’s future.

These events and conditions happening now are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all the things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy, that comes upon the world of disobedience. As the born again Church is not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10) but instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
