Synagogues are burning in central Israel as there are eruptions of Arab violence across Israel in what one mayor is calling a “Kristallnacht” and a “civil war.”
Intense Arab rioting has broken out in the central Israeli city of Lod with three synagogues set on fire along with other buildings and dozens of cars set alight.
The mayor of Lod, Yair Revivo, said he asked the prime minister to declare a state of emergency in the Jewish-Arab city. And he called for the military to be deployed in the city, saying “this is too big for police.”
“This is Kristallnacht in Lod,” he says, in reference to the Nazi program against German Jews in 1938.
He also said, “I have called on the prime minister to declare a state of emergency in Lod. To call in the IDF. To impose a curfew. To restore quiet… There is a failure of governance… This is a giant incident — an Intifada of Arab Israelis. All the work we have done here for years [on coexistence] has gone down the drain.”
He went on to say, “All of Israel should know, this is a complete loss of control… This is unthinkable. Synagogues are being burned. Hundreds of cars set alight. Hundreds of Arab thugs are roaming the streets… Civil war has erupted in Lod… The Orthodox-nationalist community here has guns. I’m imploring them to go back home but they understandably want to protect their homes. Petrol bombs are being thrown into [Jewish] homes. The situation is incendiary.”
“Every minute, a car or a synagogue or a school is going up in flames… Our new city hall was broken into and set alight. You don’t understand what’s happening here. This is worse than the missiles from Gaza.”
Then he said, “there’s been nothing like this in the history of Israel.” And Israeli National Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai called the situation unprecedented.
The Israeli government declared a state of emergency in the mixed Jewish-Arab city which means that the city is now an enclosed area monitored by the IDF.
And Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz announced the diversion of Border Police officers to the city to serve as backup to local police and authorities attempting to control the violence.
Gantz also indicated that he will provide all the necessary means to security forces in order to restore calm, including the powers to enforce a lockdown.
The escalations began in Lod as hundreds of Arab residents protested in solidarity with Palestinians in east Jerusalem and Gaza by throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails while marching toward Jewish neighborhoods.
During the course of the Arab violence, synagogues were firebombed setting them on fire causing serious damage.
Shabtai also said, “We are seeing a situation in the mixed [Jewish-Arab] cities that we have never seen before, including the incidents of October 2000.” (Widespread rioting broke out among Arab Israelis in October 2000 at the start of the second Intifada.)
The Biblical prophecies (Zechariah 14, Luke 21, Revelation 11) foretell that Israel and Jerusalem will become the focus of the world in the Last Days signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
