Syrian Army Takes Positions Gathering Near Israel’s Mountain Border

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryGeneral

The Armed Forces of the Syrian Arab Army have been spotted taking up a position on the Lebanese side of Mount Hermon from northern Israel.

And Syria has a history of gathering it’s armed forces and attacking Israel at Mount Hermon.

The cluster of mountains that is Mount Hermon, of which Israel controls less than 10 percent, splits between Israel and Lebanon at its summit. The very top of the mountain is designated to be controlled by UN forces.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) military doctrine insists that it will not permit any foreign forces – whether regular soldiers or Iranian-backed proxies – to embed anywhere near Israel’s borders and will strike their positions.

And recently reports have surfaced of both Israeli and Syrian airstrikes in areas close to that border.

Israeli fighter jets are reported to have carried out one of the most widespread attacks in approximately three years earlier in January, striking 18 sites including arms depots and military positions in Syria.

With the strikes reportedly killing nine regular Syrian soldiers and at least 31 allied fighters, thought to include members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hezbollah and the Afghan Shi’ite Fatemiyoun Brigade.

The Armed Forces of the Syrian Arab Army is the dominant military division of Syria’s four uniformed services, controlling the senior most posts in the armed forces and has the greatest manpower. It is the force behind the decade-old Syrian Civil War, as well as Syria’s wars with Israel.

The mountains of Mount Hermon, where the Syrian Arab Army is gathering, is the apex of the Golan Heights, of which 90 percent of the mountains — Israel does not control.

And it is a high-ground position having a commanding view of the Galilee of Northern Israel. It is also a location from which Syria has a history of gathering it’s armed forces and attacking Israel.

Just prior to the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Syrian military forces first gathered at Mount Hermon with it at the top of their list from which to attack Israel.

At the outset of the war, Syrian helicopters lifted off near Damascus and flew west into Lebanon where they then turned and headed southeast toward the Israeli military outpost at Mount Hermon.

The Syrian army captured the Israeli position and its been said that the fall of Mount Hermon was for Israel the single most humiliating episode of the Yom Kippur War.

And now, the Syrian Army in taking up a position at Mount Hermon, may again be thinking of using that same wartime playbook in the future.

And the Biblical prophecy in Ezekiel chapter 38 of the Gog of Magog alliance’s attack on Israel in the Last Days, is foretold to come from the mountains in northern Israel.

The Syrian Army, who is allies with Iran and Russia, in taking that position now at Mount Hermon, could be a holding location for the future gathering of the Gog of Magog military alliance.

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
