A middle school teacher who recently showed his class caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad was beheaded by a Muslim man who was later shot dead by police in a suburb of northwest Paris.

A large perimeter had been set up around the scene and the bomb squad was investigating because the attacker appeared to be wearing a vest.

The teacher had recently been threatened by Muslims for showing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, published by the Charlie Hebdo magazine, to his students in a debate to discuss freedom of expression and blasphemy in France.

The police said immediately after the beheading, the attacker claimed responsibility and posted an image of his victim’s severed head on Twitter where the grisly image was removed by the social-media site.

The attacker when confronted by responding police had a weapon and shouted “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is great” in Arabic, as the officers opened fire, killing him.

This Islamist attack is one of many to take place in France in recent years. For example last month, two people were stabbed and wounded near the former offices of the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine where Islamist militants killed 12 people in 2015.

French President Emmanuel Macron visited this current scene of what he called a “marked Islamist terrorist attack.”

The president said, “One of our fellow citizens was assassinated because he taught, taught his students freedom of expression, to believe or not to believe. Our compatriot was the victim of a marked Islamist terrorist attack.”

“I want to say this evening to all the teachers in France that we are with them, that the whole nation will be there, by their side today and tomorrow, to protect them, defend them, allow them to do their job, which is the most beautiful there is: to make free citizens. ”

As French politicians minced no words in decrying the apparent Islamist attack.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Revelation 6) foretell that growing hatred and the sword of conflict where people kill one another will be signs of the Last Days indicating the nearing end of this age.
