Turkey Attacks U.S. Special Forces In Syria

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryGeneral

It’s reported a contingent of U.S. Special Forces were caught up in Turkish shelling against U.S.-backed Kurdish positions in northern Syria, days after President Donald Trump told his Turkish counterpart he would withdraw U.S. troops from certain positions in the area.

A senior Pentagon official said shelling by the Turkish forces was so heavy that the U.S. personnel considered firing back in self-defense.

Newsweek reported that both an Iraqi Kurdish intelligence official and a senior Pentagon official said that US Special Forces operating on Mashtenour hill in the majority-Kurdish city of Kobani fell under artillery fire from Turkish forces.

The Turks are conducting their so-called “Operation Peace Spring” against Kurdish fighters backed by the U.S. but considered terrorist organizations by Turkey.

Instead of returning fire, the Special Forces withdrew once the shelling had ceased.

Since the current rules of engagement for U.S. forces continue to be centered around self-defense but no order has been issued by the Pentagon for a complete withdrawal from Syria.

The Pentagon official said that Turkish forces should be aware of U.S. positions “down to the grid.” The official could not specify the exact number of personnel attacked, but indicated they were “small numbers below company level,” so somewhere between 15 and 100 troops.

The Turkish Defense Ministry issued a statement in response to Newsweek’s report, denying that its military had targeted U.S. forces.

Turkish President Erdogan had long warned he would storm the border to establish a so-called “safe zone” and, after the White House announced that U.S. troops would stand aside, he launched the operation.

The Pentagon has repeatedly urged Turkey to halt its operations and Trump, though he initially signaled support for Erdogan’s plans following a phone call, has since threatened to either send in troops or hit Ankara with sanctions if their military action went “off limits.”

This region along the Euphrates River is foretold in prophecy (Revelation 9) to be the place where in the future the largest World War in the history of humankind will start.

And this incident, especially if any US forces had been killed, is just the type of situation that could trigger greater hostilities.

These events and conditions happening now are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all the things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy, that comes upon the world of disobedience. As the born again Church is not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10) but instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
