Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked Israel to serve as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine in negotiations for a ceasefire after Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
Zelensky asked Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in a phone call for Israel to serve as a mediator wanting the negotiations to take place in Jerusalem.
This is the first time Zelensky has made such a request since Russia began invading Ukraine this week. Israel is one of the few countries that still seems to hold decent ties with both Russia and Ukraine at this time.
Zelensky also told Bennett that they think Israel is the country that could hold such negotiations in the middle of the war expressing hope that a ceasefire could be negotiated.
Ukraine wants Israel to use its ties with Moscow to help sway Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt the invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, said: “We are looking more for the Israeli diplomatic effort, as an intermediary, we always look to Israel as one of the most prominent possible intermediaries for Mr. Putin.”
Israel’s Foreign Minister Yair Lapid has condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine. But Prime Minister Bennett has spoke only of his support for the Ukrainian people in their hour of need and abstained from saying anything about Russia.
Ukraine’s President Zelensky, who now leads its Western-backed, democratically elected government, is Jewish and lost relatives in the Holocaust.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has used the Holocaust, World War II and Nazism in his propaganda in a bid to legitimize Russia’s attacks into Ukraine. He told the world in the lead-up to Russia’s attacks on Ukraine that his operation aims to “denazify” Ukraine.
Putin has thus far said no to using Israel as an intermediary.
Russia, which is the territory of the ancient aggressive tribes Gog of Magog north of the Caucasus Mountains at the roof of the world, is exerting the dominion of its Last Days prophetic role foretold in Biblical Prophecy. And it is foretold that they will turn on Israel.
The Biblical prophecies (Ezekiel 38, Ezekiel 39, Matthew 24) foretell of wars and rumors of wars, and that Magog Russia will take military action that ultimately affects Israel in the Last Days signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
