US Defense Secretary Denies Reuters Report Saying US Not Leaving Iraq

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

Defense Secretary Mark Esper told Pentagon reporters, following reports by Reuters and other media of a U.S. military letter about a withdrawal, that the United States has no plans to pull out militarily from Iraq.

“There’s been no decision whatsoever to leave Iraq,” Esper said, when asked about the letter, adding there had also been no plans issued to prepare to leave.

“I don’t know what that letter is … We’re trying to find out where that’s coming from, what that is. But there’s been no decision made to leave Iraq. Period.”

Several helicopters could be heard flying over Baghdad on Monday night. It was not immediately clear if this was a related development. The letter said coalition forces would be using helicopters to evacuate.

The authenticity of the letter, which was addressed to the Iraqi Defense Ministry’s Combined Joint Operations Baghdad, was reported to be confirmed to Reuters independently by an Iraqi military source.

The letter supposedly referenced the request by the Iraqi Parliament and the Prime Minister to remove foreign forces from Iraq and said that the forces would be re-positioned “for onward movement.”

And the letter was said to be signed by United States Marine Corps Brigadier General William H. Seely III, commanding general of Task Force Iraq.

The path forward for the US in Iraq is unclear at this point.

But with failing support in Iraq realized in the Parliament and Prime Minister wanting the US to leave, and with a raging proxy war coming between Iran and the U.S., an on-going military presence in Iraq for the US would be fraught with risk and difficult.

The Biblical Prophecies (Matthew 24) foretell that in the Last Days nation will rise against nation and there will be wars and rumors of wars.

These events and conditions happening now are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all the things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy, that comes upon the world of disobedience. As the born again Church is not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10) but instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
