Both the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv branch are operating with minimal staffing and they’ve largely halted passport and visa services due to the threat of rocket attacks and violent protests.
In an alert that was posted, the embassy said that the Tel Aviv branch had suspended routine consular services and that Jerusalem’s consular section will only honor already scheduled appointments.
The alert said, “In response to the current security situation, U.S. Embassy Branch Office Tel Aviv has temporarily suspended routine consular services (visa and passport appointments), and U.S. Embassy Jerusalem is operating at limited capacity.”
It went on to say, “As security incidents, including rocket fire, often take place without warning, U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to remain vigilant and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness.”
And also that, ” U.S. government employees and their family members are temporarily restricted from traveling to and through areas with active red alert sirens or rocket activity.”
After two weeks of Hamas rocket attacks on Israel and Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, the violence has shown no signs of slowing down, raising concerns about the possibility of a greater war.
To minimize the potential for civilian air travel to be affected by rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, Israeli officials closed down Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv to incoming flights.
Israel offered to divert flights to Ramon Airport outside of Eilat. But airlines weren’t interested in diverting flights, and airlines as United, Delta and American Airlines announced they were canceling flights.
With airlines canceling flights into and out of Israel, and the inability of Americans to renew passports and obtain them for family members, it makes leaving the country of Israel a challenge.
The embassy advised Americans that it can’t help with arranging commercial travel options, and an email said the U.S. government had no current plans to arrange repatriation flights.
In the current fighting between Hamas and Israel, the Palestinian militants have been firing thousands of rockets from Gaza into Israel which have reached deeper into Israel than ever before.
The Biblical prophecies (Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, Ezekiel 38) foretell that the Arab-Israeli conflict will become intense and spread in the Last Days signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
