US President Trump has been taken to Walter Reed Military Medical Center for COVID treatment and will stay for a ‘few days’ according to the White House.
The president was taken from the White House by helicopter and will stay in the hospital’s presidential suite, which is equipped to allow him to continue his official duties according to statements.
The White House currently insists that the President is still in charge after doctors revealed he had a fever and is on a cocktail of experimental antibody treatment.
White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah confirmed that Trump had not transferred power to Vice President Mike Pence, despite his hospitalization. ‘The president is in charge,’ she said.
But the White House has been coy about the president’s condition.
Trump tweeted shortly before 1 am he tested positive for the virus. Then later he was described by his chief of staff as having ‘mild’ symptoms, followed by later reports by the media that Trump had a fever.
By Friday evening, the president was in route to the hospital. Where according to ABC news, He is suffering from fever, chills, congestion and cough.
US President Trump is 74 years old, and at 244 lbs. and 6 ft. 3 in. height, is considered over-weight per his last medical checkup which both place him in a category of high-risk for coronavirus.
Trump’s doctor released a statement saying he had been ‘infused’ with antibodies – which are known to help COVID patients recover faster. It was stated Trump had also been given zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin and a daily aspirin.
Trump has not tweeted since 1am on Friday when he revealed the diagnosis, and was last seen in person on Thursday evening, returning from a fundraiser.
He was due to take part in a conference call with governors at 12.15pm but was replaced by Vice President Mike Pence, who has tested negative.
Sources cited by The New York Times say the President was already lethargic on the way back from Thursday’s New Jersey event, and that he fell asleep on Air Force One on Wednesday night when returning from a rally in Minnesota.
Something that is highly unusual for the energetic President, who ordinarily spends his time on the aircraft watching television and tweeting.
UK prime minister Boris Johnson, who survived a scare with the virus in April, sent his best wishes to the president and first lady on Twitter, saying: ‘Hope they both have a speedy recovery from coronavirus.’
Johnson, who was 55 and over-weight at the time, spent an alarming three nights in intensive care at a London hospital before eventually recovering.

With over 7 million coronavirus cases diagnosed and a death toll that is nearing a quarter million deaths, the US has been the most infected country in the world with the virus. And now its President has also been infected and hospitalized.
