The death of George Floyd in Minneapolis from an interaction with police that was recorded in a citizen’s video has led to social violence spreading out across the U.S.
The video showed Floyd handcuffed behind his back and laying face down on the city street pavement.
While a white police officer’s knee with the weight of his body pressed hard on the back of the black man’s neck for about eight minutes. Floyd died.
The Minneapolis police officer who pinned Floyd, Derek Chauvin, and three other officers involved were fired from the Minneapolis Police Department. Now Chauvin has also been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
The video has inspired outrage nationwide with social unrest spreading that set Minneapolis on fire and has also spread to other cities.
Several nights of violence saw rioters burn and loot buildings across the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. And then storm the 3rd Police Precinct, the closest precinct to the site of Floyd’s arrest, setting fire to that building burning it down after police withdrew.
While a CNN crew who were legally reporting about the unrest on live television were stopped and arrested by police. The crew of the correspondent, producer, and photojournalist, were released about an hour later with the Governor of Minnesota apologizing for the arrest.
Multiple fires burned across Minneapolis as armed National Guard members and police worked to retake the streets. And a small army of heavily armored State Patrol troopers took back control of the Third Precinct area.
But the social violence spread into other cities across the country.
In Louisville, Kentucky, where police recently shot and killed 26-year-old ER technician Breonna Taylor sleeping in her apartment, protests there also turned violent. As gunfire erupted with at least seven people shot during the protests, and dozens of vehicles and buildings damaged.
Also Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Columbus, and Memphis, among other cities, saw crowds of protesters chanting “I can’t breathe” and “No justice, no peace.” As violence broke out in some locations, as Denver and Phoenix, with police in riot gear firing gas canisters and rubber bullets.
Back in Minneapolis, the city is now under curfew with police and national guard flooding the streets to try and prevent violence. And with the damage described as “unbelievable devastation,” as stunned residents say “It’s like a war came through.”
The Biblical prophecies (Genesis 6, Matthew 24) describe that hatred and violence like that of the days of Noah will be a sign indicating the nearing end of this age of grace.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before. If each of our viewers would give a donation, no matter the amount, you will help ensure the signs of Biblical prophecy continue to be shared here with the world.
