Video and documents show that the U.S. military is concerned with future civil unrest in American cities.
The unprecedented presidential election with its rhetoric, vitriol and hatred, along with a surprise victory of a different government that infuriated the other half of the country; has resulted in protests, marches, and some violence all across America in its major cities.
This could be a sign or indicator of city scenarios that the American military may believe is the future for the cities of the U.S. and the world.
Its reported that the U.S. Army prepared for civil unrest in the United States with the creation of a 132-page document entitled U.S. Army Techniques Publication 3-39.33: Civil Disturbances.
This document outlined how troops may be required to deal with “unruly and violent crowds” where it is “necessary to quell riots and restore public order.” The document shocked many with how it described the deployment of a lethal response against unarmed civilians.
Then a Pentagon video titled “Megacities: Urban Future, the Emerging Complexity,” that had been used at the Pentagon’s Joint Special Operations University, was obtained via the Freedom of Information Act by The Intercept, and was released.
It states that large cities are complex systems where people and structures are compressed together in ways that defy military doctrine and are the future breeding grounds, incubators, and launching pads for hybrid threats describing how the Army is concerned with unrest in cities.
