A new report shows a decline in law enforcement activity across major U.S. cities with deadly violence rising as policing has fallen.
It says public officials’ decisions and growing hostility toward policing has left law enforcement demoralized, debilitated and even defunded.
Where even the most dedicated officers, who now face a greater risk of being sued, fired or prosecuted for doing their job, feel pressure to pull back due to the lack of support.
They also say a new wave of progressive prosecutors, making arrests for drug and weapons crimes to go unprosecuted, are exposing officers to the risk of disciplinary action, lawsuits and criminal prosecution. And that to mitigate the risk, police are taking a more passive approach.
In New York they reported a 38% decline in arrests and a 58% increase in homicides. In Chicago, a 53% decline in arrests while murders rose 65%.
In Louisville, where massive unrest included the shooting of two police officers during a protest, homicides jumped 87% as the police made 42% fewer arrests.
They say from Los Angeles and Houston to New Orleans and Minneapolis, the political response to unrest has led to de-policing and resulted in record violence.
Already bloody St. Louis hit a 50-year homicide high, a rate of 87 per 100,000 residents — a rate three times higher than Mexico and Central America. Milwaukee announced slashing 120 officers from its police force, and the city saw a 98% increase in killings.
The mayor of Portland “defunded” the Portland Police Bureau by $12 million and eliminated three police units. Then chaos engulfed the city, as shootings went up 173% and murders jumped an astounding 255%.
American cities are becoming some of the most dangerous places in the world to live.
As across U.S. cities, the increasingly hostile work environment for law enforcement has made them more risk averse, reactive and discouraged. Now, police officers are running for the exits, putting in their retirement papers at a record rate or quitting looking to start new careers.
The Biblical prophecies (Genesis 6, Matthew 24, Luke 17) foretell that there will be violence again as it was in the days of Noah signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before.
