A volcano has now erupted on the same island in Indonesia where a 7.5 earthquake and 20 foot tsunami last week killed at least 1,400 people.

The eruption of Mount Soputan on Sulawesi island in central Indonesia prompted authorities to warn of possible lava flows and ash clouds, and evacuations were ordered for miles around the volcano sending people fleeing.

The eruption spewed ash 19,700 feet into the sky.

Scientists have not yet determined whether the eruption was directly triggered by the earthquake in central Sulawesi on Friday. However, Indonesian news portal Tempo cited a government volcanologist who suspected it was.

In addition to the growing death toll, hundreds of people were severely injured in these back to back disasters. And people there are becoming increasingly desperate as many roads are blocked and key communication lines and infrastructure destroyed, with food, water, fuel and medicine struggling to reach the hard-hit areas.

More than 60,000 people have been displaced, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency.

Events such as these are signs pointing toward the prophecy of the coming Great Tribulation of the earth in Matthew 24 where such events will be back to back on a global scale bringing a time of trouble to the earth that is described as wrath.

But now is the time of grace when everyone can through Jesus Christ be born again spiritually into the kingdom of God as Jesus commanded in John 3 and His Apostles described in Acts 2. So as Jesus said in Luke 21 you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass.
