There has been a wave of strong earthquakes this week in the world, from an unusually strong quake felt across Texas, and a deadly shaking within Indonesia, to a jolting 7.0 magnitude in the Solomon Islands.
Texas was shaken across the state by an unusual 5.3 magnitude tremor that is now being called historic since it ranks as one of the top tremors to hit Texas.
As this was the third strongest earthquake ever to strike the state, and the strongest since 1995.
The epicenter was out in West Texas but it was felt strongly hundreds of miles away in San Antonio. Where students at San Antonio College felt the buildings swaying so much they evacuated and the college then canceled classes.
There was another strong earthquake with magnitude 6.2 that struck near the coast of Baja California with the impacts felt hundreds of miles away in Southern California.
The United States Geological Survey said the quake occurred in the Pacific Ocean, about 125 miles south of the U.S. border.
USGS reports also indicated the earthquake could be felt as far as 200 miles away near Palm Desert, California. And there was some shaking of apartment buildings seen near Del Mar, California.
There was also a 5.6 magnitude earthquake which struck Indonesia that was located in the Cianjur region in West Java. Where thousands upon thousands of homes were damaged along with schools and a hospital.
Sadly, the number of those who lost their lives and were injured continues to climb from the devastating quake.
At last report, the death toll has reached at least 270 and the number of injured at over 2000. Also over 61,000 have been displaced as over 56,000 homes were damaged.
In December 2004, Indonesia was struck by a tsunami that was triggered by a 9.1-magnitude earthquake. The disaster killed 230,000 people in this region.
Then this week there was also a severe earthquake in the Solomon Islands. Where a 7.3 magnitude quake sparked fears of a possible tsunami.
The quake’s epicenter was in the ocean about 35 miles southwest of the capital, Honiara, at a depth of eight miles, according to the United States Geological Survey.
They also said hazardous waves were possible for islands in the region but the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center advised there was no wider tsunami threat expected.
The Solomon Island’s government spokesman said he crawled under his desk when the quake struck while working on the second floor of an office building in the capital, Honiara. He said, it was a huge one that shocked everybody.
He also reported there was some panic from the quake in the capital city. As children went running out of their schools and residents tried to drive to higher ground causing traffic jams.
The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Revelation 6) foretell that there will be earthquakes in the Last Days signaling the world is nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
