Relentless heat waves and droughts are drying up rivers and lakes in the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East as they are shrinking.
As extreme weather around the entire world is impacting the rivers and lakes as well as the people who rely on them whether for drinking water, to irrigate food, for energy or to ship goods.
The Colorado River in the United States is drying up from its banks as the historic drought in the western US shows little signs of abating.
This river is critical to western town populations for water and also for agriculture as it feeds two of the country’s largest reservoirs.
One of those reservoirs, Lake Mead, is quickly shrinking in size as water levels drop toward “dead pool” status – the point at which the reservoir won’t have enough water to release anymore.
The water levels have been trending down so sharply that the US government has implemented mandatory water cuts across several states limiting their water.
The consequences of the crisis are enormous as around 40 million people in seven states rely on the river’s water for drinking, agriculture and electricity.
Also, consistently smaller snowpack’s in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California have sharply reduced water supplies in the region, home to the country’s largest agriculture industry.
Officials of the Westlands Water District in the Central Valley, the state’s most important agricultural region, say roughly a third of the 600,000 farmland acres there are being left unplanted this year.
In China the Yangtze River is also drying up from its banks with dry beds emerging in areas to where China has announced a nationwide drought alert for the first time in years during their worst heat wave in recorded history.
China issued its highest red alert heat warning for at least 138 cities and counties across the country and another 373 were placed under the second-highest orange alert.
China’s heat wave is the longest since records began with their National Climate Center saying it was the “strongest” on record and warned that it could worsen in coming days.
The impact of the drying Yangtze River is enormous. For example in Sichuan, a province of 84 million people, hydropower from the river makes up most of the electricity capacity.
Now authorities there have ordered factories shut down for days and also towns have had their electricity turned off in order to conserve power. As provinces are seeing half or less of normal rain amounts and some reservoirs have dried up entirely.
Then there’s the Rhine River which starts in the Swiss Alps and flows through Germany and the Netherlands and then out to the North Sea.
It’s crucial for European shipping but it has turned into a nightmare to navigate as it is drying up and the river bed is emerging.
As the ships that do try to pass it must weave around a series of obstacles slowing the entire process making shipping more expensive and products more costly to consumers. And the stories are the same for other rivers across Europe.
In the Middle East, the Jordan River in Israel is also shrinking as the Mideast gets hotter and there are increasing water diversions for agriculture and domestic use. To where only a tiny fraction of its historical water flow now reaches its terminus in the Dead Sea.
Also the Euphrates River, Syria’s longest river, is drying up and raising concerns as millions of people are losing access to water, food and electricity, from the disastrous demise of the river.
Iraq also faces the same situation with the loss of access to water from the river because of the drought threatening millions of people there as well. The drought in both countries has been the worst in recent years with the region receiving half or less of normal rainfall.
As the world’s fresh water rivers and lakes are drying up from extreme heat and drought the implications for prophetic impacts as famine, pestilence, and war are increasing.
The Biblical prophecies (Luke 21, Revelation 6, Revelation 9, Revelation 16) foretell that the world’s climate will turn hot and its waters affected with prophetic impacts signaling the world is nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before. If each of our viewers would give a donation, no matter the amount, you will help ensure the signs of Biblical prophecy continue to be shared here with the world.
