Hundreds of firefighters worked through the night against an uncontrollable wildfire that exploded near the city of Ventura, California.
Fire officials said the intensity of the fire, coupled with the high winds, made it pretty much unstoppable.
The fast-moving, wind-fueled wildfire swept into the city of Ventura burning 45,500 acres, destroying hundreds of structures, and forcing 27,000 people to evacuate thus far.
At least 150 structures including at least one large apartment complex and the Vista Del Mar Hospital, were consumed by flames, and many more were threatened.
Ventura County Sheriff Officials said “The fire is actively burning in the city of Ventura and there are homes and buildings actively burning at this time.”
