As rescuers dig through the debris of buildings toppled by a powerful earthquake on the border between Iran and Iraq, the death toll has soared to over 530 people.
The grim work has seen women weeping and praying as aid workers found new bodies as they began in earnest again in the areas hardest hit in the magnitude 7.3 earthquake.
Both rescuers and local residents alike stood atop the remains of apartment complexes looking through the rubble. They used heavy blankets to carry away corpses.
This earthquake is the deadliest in the world so far this year.
The hospital in the area was also heavily damaged and the army set up field hospitals. The quake also damaged an army garrison and buildings killing an unspecified number of soldiers.
There are fears the death toll will continue to rise as more dead could be in the rubble. And an official said possibly hundreds of people were buried by family members after the earthquake in villages who had not been counted in the official death toll.
In the Signs of the Last Days Prophecies of Jesus Christ in Matthew 24, He foretold that diverse earthquakes in sundry places would be a sign foretelling the end of this age.
And in the prophecy course Signs of the Last Days Revealed, we show how science and Scripture are merging to fulfill this sign of the prophecies with events such as what has happened with the earthquake in Iran.
