For more than a year she had been fighting a losing battle against a strange ailment lingering at times in a coma but then they turned to a Scriptural type of prayer.
She was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder that caused her body to attack its own liver cells. In a terrible way the biological process that was supposed to keep her well was making her deathly sick.
Her hospital stays became more frequent and complicated. She suffered weight loss, headaches, extreme fatigue, confusion, jaundice and, especially dangerous, bleeding in her esophagus that sometimes wouldn’t stop. Her liver functions were deteriorating rapidly.
Then for three days she was in a coma, but her husband stayed by her bedside reading Psalms to her and her church kept up an unceasing prayer vigil.
In the absence of a miracle she was going to die leaving her husband to raise their three young children without their mother.
After she came out of the coma verses from the Book of James kept coming into her head: “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”
But her and her husband were from what they considered a mainstream congregation, and though they certainly believed in prayer for healing, they had never gone in for laying on of hands or anointing with oil. They left that to other churches.
Yet she was deeply impressed to ask for this Scriptural type of prayer. Her pastor consented and they gathered around her as he read the Scripture and anointed her with oil praying in the Name of the Lord.
She felt a pervasive sensation of peace that trickled through her entire being and she fell into a long, deep sleep.
After her next examination by the doctor finished, he had a pleased but puzzled expression on his face saying she showed an amazing amount of improvement in a short time.
She continued to improve until she was released from the hospital and over the months her tests improved steadily with her feeling better than she had in a long time.
Now almost two decades later, her children are grown and she remembers when inexperienced members of her church stood in a circle, laid their hands on her as directed by Scripture and asked the Lord for a healing.
Now her liver functions better than doctors ever dreamed it would and she enjoys good health again. God showed that he is bigger than any disease.
These are Signs of the Last Days Prophecies of Jesus Christ and His Apostles which foretold the gospel of the kingdom would be a witness to the world (Matthew 24).
Including spiritual activity and restoration by the Holy Spirit that brings about the end of the age and return of Jesus Christ (Acts 3:21, Acts 2:16-18).
