Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today released the files of documents from Iran’s secret nuclear program. Netanyahu said Israeli intelligence had obtained 55,000 files on the progress of the program.

In his presentation of the information gleaned from the documents, Netanyahu said this showed that Iran was hiding its nuclear weapons program, and that Tehran had “brazenly lied” about the program after it signed the multi-nation Iran nuclear deal.

“Iran lied big time. After signing the nuclear deal in 2015, Iran intensified its efforts to hide its secret nuclear files,” Netanyahu said to an audience in Tel Aviv.

The prime minister also said that Iran has missiles that can reach Riyadh, Saudia Arabia, Tel Aviv, and Moscow and that Tehran is working on longer-range missiles with nuclear capabilities.

“We’ve shared this material with the United States and the United States can vouch for its authenticity,” he said, adding that Israel will show the files to the Atomic Energy Agency and the international community.

This presentation comes just days before a May 12 deadline for President Trump and Europe to address issues they have with the deal. May 12 also marks the day Trump would be legally required to choose whether to re-certify or withdraw from the deal.

Trump and Netanyahu spoke via phone Saturday and discussed “threats and challenges facing the Middle East region, especially the problems posed by the Iranian regime’s destabilizing activities,” according to a White House readout of the call released Sunday.

Trump has railed against the Iran deal in the past, referring to it as “the worst deal ever made” and an “embarrassment.”
