The pestilence of coronavirus continues to reach into all levels of the US. The virus has penetrated into the White House and also invaded the Pentagon. Now it is also infecting pastors of U.S. Christian mega-churches as well.
California megachurch pastor Greg Laurie, who attended the Sept. 26 White House nomination ceremony for Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Laurie, the 67-year-old author and senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, told the Christian Broadcasting Network that he has the coronavirus.
At first, he said, the symptoms started with fatigue, aches, pains and fever. He added that his sense of taste has also been affected.
Laurie stressed “I just wish that at a time like this we could not politicize this and show compassion to people that are struggling with this. It’s real. It really is a pandemic that’s swept our nation and even the world.”
“If the president of the United States can get it, obviously anybody can get it,” he added. “But with God’s help and your prayers, I expect to get through this.”
The White House Rose Garden event for the President’s nomination ceremony for Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, has turned into a super-spreader event for the virus, where people did not socially distance and did not wear masks.
At least eight people and counting have tested positive for coronavirus who were in attendance at the event including the President and First Lady along with a number of people in President Trump’s circle.
And now those infected at the event also include Laurie. Also, there were a number of other mega-church pastors who were also attending the same event. Laurie also attended Franklin Graham’s prayer rally held in Washington, D.C. that same weekend.
There was also another announcement of another mega-church pastor separately infected with coronavirus.
Where Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, has now also tested positive for COVID-19 which was announced by his son, Matt Hagee, during an online church service.
John Hagee is also the founder and chairman of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), which encourages Americans to stand in defense of Israel and the Jewish people.
It appears that John Hagee has been hospitalized from the announcement.
As Matt Hagee told the church that doctors caught the virus early and that his 80-year-old father is “feeling well enough to be frustrated with everybody in a white coat and a stethoscope.” Indicating his father is currently under medical care and supervision.
He asked the congregation to pray for his father, along with anyone else who is confronting COVID, saying to the congregation that the coronavirus is a harsh reality but having faith in our Heavenly Father is paramount.
The Biblical prophecies of Lord Jesus (Matthew 24, Luke 21) foretold that pestilences would be a sign of the Last Days indicating the nearing end of this age.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
