People keep dying in shootings across every aspect of life in America, including those once thought of as safe harbors like schools and churches. Not feeling safe, active shooter classes are filling up with Americans who want to survive its society.
“It’s going to keep happening,” said a 77-year-old retired family-medicine doctor. “We have to be prepared because you go to church, it’s not safe. You go shopping, it’s not safe. Just walking around the park, it’s not safe.”
At a yellow-brick public library in a quiet town, 200 people participated in active shooter training. It was the second session the library offered. Similar sessions were held at a hotel in Michigan, a college in South Dakota, a church in Tennessee, a hospital in West Virginia, and a middle school in Massachusetts.
The demand for active shooter courses around the country reflects a growing acceptance among many Americans that they may face a shooting in their lifetimes.
There have been shootings in big cities and small towns, in hospitals, churches and schools, at a congressional baseball practice in Virginia, an airport baggage claim area in Florida and a suburban Wal-Mart in Colorado. Two of the biggest mass shootings ever, happened recently at a country music festival in Las Vegas where 58 people were killed and on Sunday at a small town church were 26 people were slain.
It’s now a country where adults, students, shoppers, little children, and worshipers, crouch under desks and tables, and pews, barricade themselves in rooms, and flee out to any place away from the continuing staccato sharp reports of gunfire.
America’s gun violence has run amok to where people are saying its just not safe anymore. And government seems helpless to do anything to stop it.
And many are taking action so they can move beyond helplessness, conquer fear and take control of the one thing they can – their survival; in an America they say is no longer safe.
But these signs were foretold in the prophecies of Jesus Christ to happen in the Last Days where society would break down with violence. In a humankind who has abandoned its moral moorings by turning away from the ways of God found in the Holy Scriptures.
