Scientists have discovered a mash-up of two feared disasters — hurricanes and earthquakes — and they’re calling them “stormquakes.” The combination of two frightening natural phenomena might bring to mind a disaster movie but stormquakes are real.

Its been found that the large and strong hurricanes that we’ve had in recent years can generate measurable seismic activity of earthquakes at 3.0 magnitude as they rumble over land and sea.

According to a study in the journal, Geophysical Research Letters, scientists said the rumbling of hurricanes and nor’easters can shake the sea floor like a magnitude 3.5 earthquake and can last for days.

The research says that the intense storms can trigger giant waves in the sea, and the waves then interact with the seafloor that causes the shaking in places like where there’s a large continental shelf and shallow flat land.

The shaking is a type that creates a wave that seismologists don’t normally look for when monitoring earthquakes, so that’s why these stormquakes at the seafloor have gone unnoticed until now.

The study found stormquakes occurred between September 2006 and February 2015 in the Gulf of Mexico and off Florida, New England, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador and British Columbia.

And Ike in 2008 and Irene in 2011 were examples of large and destructive hurricanes that were found to set off stormquakes at the sea floor.

But the intensely strong hurricanes in recent years, have also been found to create stormquakes over land as well. When a massive tempest called Hurricane Irma tore across the Atlantic in 2017, it slammed into the Caribbean islands.

And not only was the massive storm registered as a maximum Category 5 hurricane, but it was also picked up by seismic sensors on land in the region, where it registered as 3.0 and higher magnitude earthquakes.

As the storms intense waves, wind, and shaking of trees and structures by Irma were causing the ground to shake on the Caribbean islands. And the intense hurricane could also be tracked by the seismometers registering the intense storms associated seismic activity.

Some experts have thought that there could be a link between extreme hurricanes and earthquakes, who say the extreme natural events don’t always exist in isolation. Where they say the Earth’s system as a whole, in which there are hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, etc., all form an interconnected system.

Interestingly, it was just reported last week how that a magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit the coast of Tokyo, Japan, just as a strong typhoon also made landfall there with record-setting devastation that also caused 146 landslides across the country.

Which this is exactly the type of extreme disaster convergence that some experts have been linking.

And the Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21) also link the occurrence of disasters as the roaring of intense hurricane waves on the seas and also earthquakes to the coming end of this age.

The prophecy in Luke 21 foretold that there would be signs in the sun, in the sea, and in the earth – such as eclipses, hurricanes, and earthquakes.

And in the recent season of disasters that we have had after the recent total solar eclipse, there has been a peculiar relationship of signs happening between sun, sea, and earth. Which are signs as markers indicating the nearing events of disaster coming in the tribulation for humankind found in Revelation.

These events and conditions happening now are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all the things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy, that comes upon the world of disobedience. As the born again Church is not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10) but instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
