The Middle East terrorist group Hamas has said US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the decision to move the US embassy there, “opens the gates of hell”.
Hamas called the decision about the Holy City as crossing “a red line”.
Out of fear of a violent reaction to Americans, the U.S. State Department has suspended non-essential diplomatic staff travel to Israel, Jerusalem, and the West Bank.
Iraqi leaders in Baghdad also said President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital could incite extremists in the region — making conditions “favorable to terrorism” against U.S. targets.
An Iran-backed militia operating in Iraq echoed Baghdad’s statement, saying Trump’s “stupid decision” would be a “legitimate reason” to attack U.S. troops in Iraq, Reuters reported.
