Reports say President Trump has told Israeli and Arab leaders that he plans to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Mr. Trump is expected to announce his decision very soon two days after the expiration of a deadline for him to decide whether to keep the American Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Palestinian officials said Mr. Trump told the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, that the United States would move the embassy to Jerusalem.

Jordan has said the president gave a similar message to King Abdullah II.

Muslims across the Middle East are warning that such a move is playing with fire. King Abdullah of Jordan and Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority are warning the move will increase  Middle East instability.

Turkish President Erdogan is threatening that his government could sever diplomatic ties with Israel if the U.S. declares Jerusalem the country’s capital city.

 Erdogan warned that “Jerusalem is a red line for Muslims.”
