The United Nations is warning that the world is facing widespread famine “of Biblical proportions” because of the coronavirus pandemic.
David Beasley, the chief of the UN’s food agency, warned that there is a short time to act before hundreds of millions starve.
He described that more than 30 countries in the developing world could experience widespread famine, and in 10 of those countries there are already more than 1 million people on the brink of starvation.
He said in an interview, “We are not talking about people going to bed hungry, we are talking about extreme conditions, emergency status – people literally marching to the brink of starvation. If we don’t get food to people, people will die.”
He also went on to say in describing covid-19’s ability to bring famine, “This is truly more than just a pandemic – it is creating a hunger pandemic. This is a humanitarian and food catastrophe.”
Addressing the UN Security Council in a video conference, Beasley, who has just recovered from Covid-19, began his Security Council briefing by saying “excuse me for speaking bluntly,” and that the world had to “act wisely and act fast.”
“We could be facing multiple famines of biblical proportions within a short few months,” he said. “The truth is we do not have time on our side.”
Arif Husain, the chief economist at the World Food Program, also said the pandemic could push 130 million more people to the brink of starvation by the end of 2020, bringing the total number of people facing food shortages to 265 million.
Husain went on to say, “We’ve never seen anything like this before. It wasn’t a pretty picture to begin with, but this makes it truly unprecedented and uncharted territory.”
Later in an interview, Beasley also expressed fear that 30 million people, and possibly more, could die in a matter of months, if the UN does not secure funding and food.
But this is also a world now, where even the usual donor countries are also reeling from the steep financial cost of their own Covid-19 crises in the world-wide pandemic that has the potential to bring famines “of Biblical proportions.”
Jesus Christ in His Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24) foretold that both pestilence and famine together would be signs that would indicate the beginning of the end of this age of grace that He called the “beginning of sorrows.”
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before. If each of our viewers would give a donation, no matter the amount, you will help ensure the signs of Biblical prophecy continue to be shared here with the world.
