In the avalanche of stories being written about the riot at the U.S. Capitol, now there are many reports which are implying Christians were somehow responsible for the chaos.

For several days the influential Drudge Report, for example, right above its bank of stories about the Capitol riot was a photo of the wooden cross, implying Christians were somehow responsible for the mayhem.

In an article at The Dispatch that was accompanied by a photo of a man carrying a giant wooden cross, it called the riots “a violent Christian insurrection,” italicizing the word “Christian” for emphasis.

The Atlantic also called the riots a “Christian Insurrection” while Religion News Service reported that rioters were “Christian Nationalists.”

Patheos, meanwhile, has claimed riots were the work of “White Christian Nationalists.”

And when Trump supporters erected a cross the day of the riot but 600 miles away in front of the Michigan state house, Vanity Fair wrote that “they did not need to set it aflame to make its Christian nationalism plain.”

Reportedly a congressman also seemed to be blaming Christians for the January 6 riot implying in a tweet that Christian leaders as pastors were responsible for spreading conspiracies of a stolen election.

The effort to pin the US Capitol riot on Christians is like going back to the future.

Reminding of how before in the Roman Empire, the government of the emperor blamed the Christians for the devastating fire of Rome, which led to the Christians being hated and persecuted.

Recently Christian churches have also been targeted by government for the coronavirus pandemic with churches being shuttered and pastors also arrested and put in jail.

And then churches in liberal states and cities were forced to stay closed as even malls were allowed to re-open.

As the US Supreme Court also ruled that governments had power over churches and the right to discriminate against them if the government declared an emergency.

Some Christian organizations and leaders think that implying Christians are responsible in the Capitol riot will be used as leverage to fast-track legislation targeting Christians.

Like the so-called Equality Act, which the Christian legal group Liberty Counsel calls out as the most extreme threat to religious freedom, free speech, and privacy that has ever been proposed by liberals in Congress.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24) foretell that persecution will come to Biblical Christians in the Last Days where they will become hated and delivered up to tribulation as a sign indicating the nearing end of this age of grace.

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
