U.S. Administration officials are privately warning members of Congress that Iran is expected to retaliate against the U.S., either at home or abroad, “within weeks.”

This is reportedly according to a senior congressional staffer, who described a Friday briefing from the State and Defense Departments as well as U.S. intelligence agencies.

According to the congressional source, “There is no indication that there is going to be a de-escalation in the near future. The only question is how bad is the retaliation going to be and where and what is it going to hit.”

In the long-running shadow war across the Middle East between the United States and Iran there has not been direct confrontation until now.

When US President Trump ordered the killing of Qasem Soleimani, military commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force, in a high-profile drone strike outside the Baghdad airport in Iraq.

This events takes the US and Iran conflict into uncharted territory.

Loved by millions of Iranians and also many militias he developed across Middle East countries, Soleimani had a following that eclipsed terror leaders better known in the West, including Osama bin-Laden and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who were also killed by American forces.

And his killing by the U.S. can bring significant consequences in the Middle East. Where the shadow war across the Middle East comes out into full-blown regional war.

But Iran is likely to respond using proxy allies, rather than its own forces, following Soleimani’s lead as Quds commander in activating proxy militias to launch attacks against the U.S. and its allies.

Then how the Trump Administration responds against Iran’s retaliation through its proxies would be the big factor determining how large a regional confrontation could become.

For if the United States where to ever directly attack the nation state of Iran itself, this could trigger the allies of Iran, as Russia and China, to become involved.

And if this scenario were to happen, it could ultimately lead to a confrontation developing between the West and Israel against Iran and Russia with its Arab allies. Such as described in the prophecy of Ezekiel chapter 38.

The U.S. Administration has already urged all American citizens to leave Iraq “immediately” and also bolstered the number of forces to the Middle East in anticipation of Iranian retaliation.

Also, a professor at the University of Tehran told BBC Radio that if he were a western citizen he would leave the Mid-East immediately. Since now the whole Mid-East region is under threat. And that Iraqis will also be inclined to retaliate against the US as well.

Since Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the Iraqi commander of the Iranian-backed Iraqi militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, was also killed with Soleimani in the US attack. And many in Iraq consider both of them as war heroes against ISIS.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has condemned the “assassination” of both the Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in the U.S. airstrike in Baghdad.

He also said in a statement that the airstrike on Baghdad airport is an act of aggression on Iraq and breach of its sovereignty that will lead to war in Iraq, the region, and the world.

Iran is vowing to seek a harsh revenge on the United States after the American airstrike in Iraq that killed Iran’s most prized and powerful military leader, Qasem Soleimani.

And when they retaliate, if Americans are badly hurt or killed, US President Trump has set a precedent that he is willing to use deadly force in just as an unpredictable manner as Iran.

And if this becomes a contest of will between Trump and Iran, with them again misjudging Trump, there’s the possibility of conflict quickly spiraling upward in the Middle East.

The Biblical Prophecies (Matthew 24) foretell that in the Last Days nation will rise against nation and there will be wars and rumors of wars.
